神坂 雪佳 (1866～1942）京都に生まれ、
本名は吉隆。四条派の鈴木瑞彦に師事し、
のち岸光景の門に入る。
光悦光琳派の画家であり、工芸美術の
作家としても世界的に著名。
欧州を歴訪してアールヌーヴォーの形式
を取り入れるなどした作風は独自の境地
を拓く者として、欧米で賛美を浴びる。
また、わが国の近代工芸に曙光を与え、
その後の発展に大きく貢献。その作品は
今日もなを、特に欧米で高く評価され、
「ル・モンド・エルメス｣38号の表紙と
巻頭12ページを飾る。
雪佳の作品には現代の一流ブランドさえ
魅了する斬新な意匠美の世界が、今も
変わることなく息づいている。

World of Things
Sekka Kamisaka was born in Kyoto and
worked as a designer of ornaments.
The artist made several woodblock
albums,"A Thousand Butterflies"
in 1903, "World of Things" in 1909,
"Poems and Pictures" in 1934 and
"Collection of Humorous
Designs - Kokkei Zuan (e-hon album)"
in 1903.
The prints are made from the
original woodblocks
