知られざる京都の木版作家
土屋楽山（1896-1976）

京都生まれ。京都画壇の雄、竹内栖鳳に師事。
詳細で複雑な色の木版画は、第二次世界大戦前
から1948年頃まで楽山のスタジオで
自刻・自摺され販売していました。主に海外市場
を中心に作品制作をされ、
ウォルターフォスターは戦後1950年代に米国の市場
に販売しました。
日本市場に登場する事が少ない知られざる
木版作家です。

芸艸堂は土屋家から現存する版木を買取、今回の
67年振りの再版にあたり戦前のローマ字表記無し
状態の作品で摺り上げました。

Rakusan（Rakuzan） Tsuchiya（1896-1976）
was born in Kyoto and studied art under the great
Kyoto artist, Seiho Takeuchi.
His detailed and intricately colored woodblock
prints were sold by his studio before W.W.II
until around 1948.

Walter Foster promoted and sold Rakusan's prints
in 1950s to the market in USA.

Unsodo bought an existing woodblock from
the Tsuchiya family, and this is the reprint
in 67 years.
We printed it up without romaji notation before
the war.

今回再摺した「金魚にメダカ」は戦前～戦後に
かけて何度か重版されています。
版木を包んでいた新聞紙の年号は昭和12年
（1937年）



昭和28年（1953年）戦後版は画面下部
（ウォルターフォスター版）にローマ字で
RAKUSANのサインが摺り込まれていました。





芸艸堂は土屋家から現存する版木を買取、今回の
67年振りの再版にあたり戦前のローマ字表記無し
状態の作品で摺り上げました。
